Everyone experiences anxiety sometimes—it’s a normal response to stress. But when does normal worry cross into a disorder that needs professional treatment? The difference often comes down to intensity, duration, and impact on your life.
Living with constant worry, panic attacks, or overwhelming fear isn’t something you have to accept. Asana Recovery’s outpatient anxiety disorder treatment in Orange County uses evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and exposure therapy — the gold-standard treatments for anxiety — to help you reduce symptoms, restore daily functioning, and reclaim your life. Programs are delivered at our Fountain Valley outpatient center across PHP, IOP, Virtual IOP, and Standard Outpatient levels of care.
Anxiety disorders are more than everyday stress or occasional nervousness. They involve persistent, excessive fear or worry that interferes with daily activities—and they’re far more common than most people realize. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety disorders affect approximately 31.1% of U.S. adults at some point in their lives, making them the most common mental health condition in the country.
The good news? Anxiety disorders are also among the most treatable mental health conditions. With proper treatment, most people experience significant relief from symptoms and learn to manage anxiety effectively. At Asana Recovery, our Orange County anxiety treatment programs combine evidence-based therapies with compassionate support to help you overcome anxiety and build lasting resilience.
Our outpatient programs—including Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Virtual IOP for California residents, and Standard Outpatient—provide more intensive structure than traditional weekly therapy. Each level offers the daily practice and clinical support you need to apply anxiety management skills in real-world settings, where lasting change actually happens.
Anxiety manifests in many forms, each with distinct symptoms and challenges. Our clinical team provides specialized treatment for the full spectrum of anxiety disorders. Click any condition below to learn more about our treatment approach.
Persistent, excessive worry about everyday things—work, health, family, money—that’s difficult to control and lasts six months or more. GAD causes constant tension even when there’s no clear threat.

You don’t have to white-knuckle through life. Our specialized anxiety treatment programs can help you find real, lasting relief.
Effective anxiety treatment isn’t about eliminating all anxiety—some anxiety is normal and even helpful. Instead, our programs focus on teaching you to respond to anxiety differently, reduce its intensity, and stop it from controlling your life.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the most extensively researched and effective treatment for anxiety disorders—recommended as a first-line intervention by the American Psychological Association, the National Institute of Mental Health, and major clinical guidelines. CBT works by identifying the thought patterns and behaviors that maintain anxiety, then systematically replacing them with healthier responses. At Asana Recovery, our clinicians use CBT as the foundation of every anxiety treatment plan, customizing the approach to your specific anxiety type and triggers.
Research published by the American Psychological Association confirms that CBT produces lasting improvements in anxiety symptoms, with many patients maintaining gains years after treatment ends.
Gradually and safely confronting feared situations to reduce avoidance and prove that anxiety decreases naturally. Essential for phobias, panic disorder, and social anxiety.
Teaches distress tolerance and emotional regulation skills. Particularly effective for anxiety combined with intense emotions or self-destructive behaviors.
Focuses on accepting anxious thoughts without fighting them while committing to values-based action. Reduces the struggle with anxiety itself.
Develops present-moment awareness and non-judgmental observation of thoughts. Helps break the cycle of worry about the future.
Provides peer support, reduces isolation, and offers opportunities to practice social skills in a safe environment. Especially valuable for social anxiety.
One-on-one sessions to address personal triggers, process past experiences, and develop individualized coping strategies.
"Anxiety disorders are the most treatable of all mental health conditions. Approximately 80% of people with anxiety disorders show significant improvement with proper treatment."
— Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA)
Our outpatient programs provide more intensive support than weekly therapy while allowing you to practice anxiety management skills in real-world settings:
Can’t attend in person? Our Virtual IOP delivers the same evidence-based anxiety treatment from anywhere in California via secure video sessions.
It’s extremely common for people with anxiety disorders to use alcohol, benzodiazepines, or other substances to cope with their symptoms. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), about 20% of people with anxiety disorders also have a substance use disorder.
This creates a dangerous cycle: substances may temporarily reduce anxiety but ultimately make it worse, requiring more substance use to achieve the same relief. Breaking this cycle requires treating both conditions simultaneously.
At Asana Recovery, we began as an addiction treatment center and have deep expertise in co-occurring anxiety and substance use disorders. If you’re struggling with both, you’ve come to the right place.

Most patients see significant improvement within 8-12 weeks of consistent treatment. However, the timeline varies based on anxiety severity, type, and individual factors. Some people benefit from shorter, intensive treatment (PHP for 2-4 weeks), while others prefer longer-term IOP support. We’ll work with you to determine the right duration for your needs.
Not necessarily. Many clients overcome anxiety with therapy alone — CBT and exposure therapy are highly effective without medication. For clients with severe symptoms, panic disorder, or co-occurring depression, medication can be a helpful complement to therapy. Asana Recovery’s medical team can discuss whether medication fits your specific situation during the initial assessment, and we have psychiatric prescribers integrated into the clinical team.
We understand the concern, but exposure therapy is done gradually and at your pace. You’ll never be forced into situations you’re not ready for. The goal is to prove to your brain that anxiety decreases naturally over time—and that you can handle more than you think. Most patients find exposure therapy empowering once they start seeing results.
Yes, many clients maintain employment during treatment. Our IOP offers flexible morning and evening sessions, and our Virtual IOP can be accessed from anywhere in California via secure video. In fact, continuing to work while in treatment provides valuable opportunities to practice anxiety management skills in real-world situations — which is one of the core advantages of outpatient care over inpatient settings.
Not all therapy is created equal. Many therapists use general talk therapy, which isn’t very effective for anxiety disorders. Our programs use CBT and exposure therapy—the treatments proven most effective for anxiety. If you’ve only tried supportive counseling or talk therapy, you haven’t experienced the gold-standard approach.
Most major PPO insurance plans cover outpatient mental health treatment, including our PHP and IOP programs — this is a federal requirement under the Mental Health Parity Act and the Affordable Care Act. Asana Recovery is in-network with Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, ComPsych, TriCare, and Tri-West. Most other PPO plans are accepted on an out-of-network basis. We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability.
To fulfill this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Complying with those guidelines helps us ensure that the website is accessible to all people: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, and more.
This website utilizes various technologies that are meant to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We utilize an accessibility interface that allows persons with specific disabilities to adjust the website’s UI (user interface) and design it to their personal needs.
Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and optimizes its accessibility level constantly. This application remediates the website’s HTML, adapts Its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by the blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.
If you’ve found a malfunction or have ideas for improvement, we’ll be happy to hear from you. You can reach out to the website’s operators by using the following email
Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements, alongside console screenshots of code examples:
Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website.
These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers).
Despite our very best efforts to allow anybody to adjust the website to their needs. There may still be pages or sections that are not fully accessible, are in the process of becoming accessible, or are lacking an adequate technological solution to make them accessible. Still, we are continually improving our accessibility, adding, updating and improving its options and features, and developing and adopting new technologies. All this is meant to reach the optimal level of accessibility, following technological advancements. For any assistance, please reach out to
