Over the course of several years, we have seen the marijuana debate unfold in unique or downright bizarre ways. As more states continue to sway towards the prospect of legalized recreational weed, more renowned voices in the celebrity community have started to enter the picture and promote the beneficial aspects of the drug. Individuals like Kristen Bell, Snoop Dogg, and Susan Sarandon are a few popular names that have appeared in recent media, and even Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has voiced his enthusiasm for the drug. However, one of the most unique incidences to spark the media was the announcement that the little green herb would be taking a new turn in the celebrity limelight (or green light, as it were). Here is a look at how renowned boxer Mike Tyson is planning to take a different perspective on the cannabis plant.

Rolling with the Punches

One of the most renowned champion boxers of his time, Mike Tyson has certainly developed (for lack of a better word) unique career after his retirement. Appearing in films like The Hangover and starring in a cartoon show Mike Tyson Mysteries on Adult Swim (Cartoon Network), the former athlete has shown he has a penchant for the bizarre, so you may not be surprised to hear that his latest venture involves (you guessed it) marijuana.

Based on a recent report in the New York Post, Tyson and a film crew have started shooting Rolling with the Punches at Tyson Ranch (El Segundo, California). Overall, the show will follow the adventures of a retired boxer (Mike Tyson) and will also star his bodyguard Chuck Zito and Russell Peters (who will play the boxer’s “loser friend”).

Screenshots of Life

Airing in five months (based on projections), the show is basically providing viewers with a glimpse into Tyson’s actual life. Recently, the former boxer voiced his approval of medical cannabis and revealed that 85% of current professional athletes use it to alleviate pain and nervous tension. Furthermore, Tyson announced that he smokes the drug every day. Ironically, the production of the show has arrived one year after the State of California legalized recreational cannabis.
