Maggie Sumioka
Compliance Officer
Maggie said that being able to help others and make those around her happy brings her joy in life. While she has had many different roles in her career, such as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and research lab assistant, it has always been her goal and desire to work in the medical and healthcare fields.
She is currently attending Purdue University Global, where she is earning a master’s degree in public health. She has also previously attended Boston University, where she majored in neuroscience and minored in biology.
While completing her Master’s degree and looking for related work experience, an opportunity at Asana Recovery became available for the administrative side of the addiction industry. As a prospective healthcare professional, she thinks it is valuable to understand and gain experience in all aspects of the chain of services in the healthcare industry and be open to learning about the different industries within the field.
She currently works as a Compliance Officer at Asana Recovery, where she is responsible for assisting the COO in ensuring the center complies with its internal policies and procedures in addition to external regulatory requirements, such as state regulations and accreditation standards. Maggie also provides administrative support to maintain internal measures and controls for addressing and managing risks and compliance issues.
In her free time, Maggie loves to bake, and says that French macarons are her specialty. She also enjoys spending free time swimming, running, and practicing martial arts. She is a first degree black belt in taekwondo, and also practices kendo, the Japanese form of fencing.
