ASANA RECOVERY DESCRIPTION

Asana Recovery is a boutique alcohol and drug recovery program located in Costa Mesa, California just a couple miles from the Orange County coastline. The program is state licensed and nationally accredited for medical detoxification, inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment. Utilizing evidence based practices and harm reduction techniques, our management and clinical staff include some of the most experienced and accomplished addiction treatment professionals in the industry. Providing empathetic support for clients entering treatment whether it is their first or umpteenth episode is our specialty.

The “Asana Way” focuses on providing personalized and comprehensive treatment plans for both men and women in recovery. It embodies our forward-thinking approach to the treatment of addiction, pairing traditional and alternative methods, and serving all clients with compassion, while providing appropriate structure and practicing essential values in work and in play.

Treatment planning begins immediately upon admission and during detoxification with involvement in individual and group therapy sessions and case management. Medication assisted detoxification, or detox, from opiates, alcohol and/or other drugs is managed closely by the onsite medical team to ensure client safety and comfort. Non-traditional detox protocols are often implemented to better match each client’s uniqueness.

Daily treatment programming is specifically geared towards addressing underlying issues driving the addiction while also developing recovery tools. Group therapy is interwoven between individual and family sessions. Therapy modalities can include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Traditional 12-Step and Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART) groups are attended on a nightly basis.

Mindfulness, physical exercise and healthy eating are incorporated into daily treatment programming. Most meals are prepared by an on-site chef with a focus on replenishing basic vitamins and minerals. The nutritionist provides dietary analysis, consulting and meal preparation training. Daily physical activity can range from beach walks to cross fit training to one-on-one boxing with our personal trainers.

LONG BIO

As CEO of Asana Recovery, Mark brings 20+ years of experience in business development and operations to help innovate and effectuate an exceptional, yet cost-effective, approach to addiction treatment that incorporates both traditional and alternative therapeutic methods, and provides a truly individualized program of treatment for each client, thereby increasing the chances for real recovery.

Prior to founding Asana Recovery, Mark was instrumental in developing another addiction treatment provider into one of the fastest growing organizations in Southern California. The knowledge and experience he acquired during that tenure, along with his education and prior business experience, have equipped Mark with the tools necessary to successfully navigate the waters of today’s complex healthcare system and addiction treatment environment, bringing foresight and stability to the organization so it will always be able to carry out its mission in recovery, even in challenging times.

In 2005, Mark Shandrow received his California real estate license.  Mark quickly excelled in residential real estate sales because of his strong customer focused approach and innovative marketing techniques.  Mark championed the use of the Internet to education home buyers and sellers, including websites such as YouTube, Google and iTunes. Mark opened, Shandrow Group, a boutique real estate brokerage in 2010 to further expand his real estate business and focus on the sale of bank owned homes (REOs).  Shandrow Group manages and sells assets for large financial institutions such as Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, HUD and Fannie Mae.

Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. He was drawn to become actively involved in various non-profit organizations and public causes early in his career, including the founding of Bikestation, which seeks to improve the quality of life in urban communities through the development and operation of bike-transit centers.  His ability to think outside the box and his interest in promoting the greater good make his role as CEO at Asana Recovery a natural fit.
