We have certainly seen our fair share of celebrities showing support for marijuana, haven’t we? Besides obvious promoters like Snoop Dogg and Whiz Khalifa (among other hip-hop stars), we have had a few surprise appearances by Frozen star Kristen Bell and Thelma and Louise bombshell Susan Sarandon. Meanwhile, athletes like Nick Diaz (MMA) and Eugene Monroe (NFL) have also come forward to voice their appreciation for the plant’s medical benefits, which have been disputed in the field of sports for quite some time. Now, two more champions are coming forward to show their love for the fragrant green herb the only way they can: knocking through the metaphorical brick wall. Let’s take a look at how professional fighters Mike Tyson and Conor McGregor have united on the marijuana front.
Undisputed
So where did all of this begin?
Earlier in November, UFC Fighter Conor McGregor posted two photos on Instagram that showcased more than his combat skills. In one picture, former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson is inhaling smoke from a joint and performing a French exhale. In the second, Tyson and McGregor are smoking in a room together. Beneath the first picture, McGregor inserted a lengthy caption in which he praises Tyson for his victories, acknowledges a fight they had and wishes his predecessor the best in his new adventures in the cannabis world.
Based on recent reports, McGregor and Tyson had recently had a spat over an incident last year. At that time, Tyson guest-starred on the podcast Pardon My Take and criticized the upcoming fight between McGregor and Floyd Mayweather. According to Tyson, mixing MMA fighting rules with boxing rules is unorthodox, and the former heavyweight stated that McGregor would fail miserably against the champion boxer.
Filling the Gap
Nevertheless, the two fighters have made up and bonded over (of course) joints of marijuana, filled with Tyson’s strain line Cherry Pick Kush. Recently, the former boxer announced he would be opening Tyson Ranch, a resort and cannabis farm situated in California City. Overall, Tyson hopes to educate professional farmers and cultivators, not just tourists passing through the state (as suspected).
