PROVIDING A SAFE AND CARING HAVEN
How to Choose a Residential Treatment Program
WHAT SERVICES DOES THE FACILITY PROVIDE?
The more effective treatment programs provide a complete range of services, beginning with detox, and then transitioning to individualized treatment. Services to look for include individual therapy, medication management, addiction education, life-skills training, activity-based therapy, follow-up care, onsite health and wellness activities, and referrals to support groups.
IS THE FACILITY STAFFED BY SKILLED PROFESSIONALS?
A treatment program is only as good as its staff. Choose a program with well-trained, licensed professional therapists, counselors and staff who are not only certified in addiction treatment, but also highly experienced or have been in addiction recovery themselves for some time. Staff should also be empathetic to the client and able to work toward establishing trust, which is often difficult among addicts.
DOES THE FACILITY HAVE PROPER ACCREDITATION?
It is important to differentiate between effective and legitimate treatment facilities and others that may be operating dishonest or deceptive programs. Choose only a licensed treatment facility that meets nationally recognized standards for addiction treatment as established by an accreditation agency, such as CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) or the Joint Commission, and a state licensing board.
The Asana Difference
Asana Recovery’s residential treatment is a CARF-accredited program. This means that the center has successfully completed a rigorous audit by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, ensuring that the program meets the national standards set by the agency. In comparison, CARF standards are much more stringent than state requirements. A CARF accreditation ensures that clients are getting the best treatment possible, and families can be assured that loved ones are under the care of skilled and experienced medical professionals.
