Robert Chapa Behavioral Health Technician

Behavioral Health Technician

When he’s not spending time with his girlfriend or his family, Robert stays busy at our facility as the Program Specialist and part of the Support Staff. He monitors clients and takes note of any changes in conditions, records symptoms, and more. He makes sure every client is getting exactly what they need and shares any necessary information with the medical staff.

Robert was led to work in this field because he had a family member working in treatment and was given the opportunity to be a part of the team. He loved being given the chance to help others get clean. Robert loves that in his position he gets to watch the growth of individuals and their process back. He uses his strengths of being a good listener and able to tell it like it is even if it’s not what people want to hear. But he believes in recovery, you don’t need enablers.

Robert started his career in this field because of his own experience of getting clean, and the desire to help others on their journey and provide support.

“The transformation and the strength people have to get past their demons,” is what Robert finds the most inspiring about his position.

When he’s not working, Robert enjoys spending all of his time with his girlfriend or his family. He is a very big family man, so he uses his free time to spend with them making memories. His relationships with others is what makes him most happy in life, and he makes this a priority. If he could travel anywhere in the world, he would most love to visit Costa Rica because of its beauty and his heritage.

Robert takes the most inspiration from his little brother. He admires that his brother has been there for him when he needed him most, and never gave up on him even when times got hard. He remembers this support he had from his brother, and hopes to provide similar support to those around him.

When we asked him to describe himself in three words, his answer was loyal, funny, and dedicated. This is exactly how those around him see him, and why he is such a key part of our team!

His advice to anyone looking to work in this field is that it may not be for everyone. You have to have patience and understanding and most of the time you will be pushed to your limits, but in the end you’ll see your worst client will be your biggest achievement.
