When it comes to the great marijuana debate (or any political debate for that matter), celebrities seem to be in the top 10% of influencers don’t they? After all, we’ve seen Snoop Dogg and other hip-hop stars provide endless support for the little green plant, while surprising entries like Susan Sarandon and Kristen Bell have opened up about their daily pot use. Needless to say, as the debate plows its green mark through our country, more and more surprise guests are turning up, including the queen of talk shows herself: Oprah Winfrey. According to a recent report, the renowned journalist and talk show host revealed that she likes to toke once in a while. Let’s take a closer look about the story concerning Oprah and the little green plant.

Stressful Times, Fun Days

When you take a long look at her schedule, you might not be surprised to hear that the talk show icon uses marijuana every so often. Following the conclusion of her overwhelmingly successful television program in 2011, Oprah has still stayed busy with her media work, ranging from magazine editorials to starring in big blockbuster films. However, according to Gayle King (Oprah’s best friend), when Oprah is not “punched in,” she casually uses marijuana. So how did this topic come about?

The topic gained media attention after it was brought up on Ellen, hosted by comedienne Ellen Degeneres. During a discussion about Ellen’s 60th Birthday Bash (featuring celebrities like John Legend, Kim Kardashian, Amy Schumer, and more), Degeneres joked that weed may have been passed around the room. Jokingly, she told King that Schumer was taking a few puffs on set.

Confessions of a TV Queen

In response to Degeneres’ statement, King confirmed that she has never indulged in marijuana cigarettes and has called herself a “square,” although she did admit that she would try a puff (only in private). However, King did reveal that Oprah Winfrey has smoked marijuana but did not comment on whether her friend enjoyed doing so or not.

In an interesting twist, in 2013, Winfrey had told David Letterman that she had not smoked a hint of marijuana in 30 years.
