Orange County Residential Treatment

Learn About Our Southern California Residential Treatment Center

A residential treatment program provides intensive inpatient help, either in a hospital setting or in a pleasant non-hospital setting, for individuals who need to overcome an addiction and alleviate or heal conditions related to substance abuse. Since detoxification does not address the psychological, social, and behavioral problems associated with addiction, residential treatment is often necessary to help clients make important and lasting behavioral changes necessary for a successful recovery. Residential treatment centers provide accommodations, meals, and daily essentials to individuals while they receive the counseling, education, and therapies needed to address behavioral, emotional, and psychological issues with the guidance of licensed mental health professionals. This type of rehab serves two important purposes: it takes the individual away from their home or other typical surroundings and puts them in a safe place where they can focus on recovery, while staying away from the distractions and temptations of everyday life; and facilitates the provider’s ability to administer comprehensive care and closely monitor each person’s progress.

A short-term residential treatment program may run anywhere from 28 to 90 days. While some clients need longer-term care, which can be from a few months to as much as a year, there is no one standard way to treat addiction. There are many differences among individuals and their addictions, and the treatment plans often vary from client to client. Typically, residential treatment involves individual sessions with a therapist, as well as group therapies with other individuals in the rehab program. Days are structured and include activities that are designed to help clients examine destructive or harmful beliefs, self-concepts, and behavioral patterns, and adopt new, positive and constructive concepts and skills for living successfully in recovery. There is also time for recreational activities.

Residential treatment is best for those who have moderate to severe addiction, and who have come to the point of admitting or accepting that they have a problem that requires treatment. Such individuals are prepared to commit to an extended stay in our luxurious Orange County residential treatment facility that provides comprehensive, evidence-based rehab treatment such as behavioral therapy, and possibly alternative therapies. Unfortunately, many people decide not to go to treatment because they have not yet hit their bottom or just don’t think their addiction is bad enough. If you are thinking about whether or not you need help getting clean and sober, then you probably do. Residential treatment may be your best option.

How to Choose a Residential Treatment Program

The more effective rehab programs provide a complete range of services. Beginning with detox and then transitioning to individualized treatment. Services to look for include individual therapy, medication management, addiction education, life-skills training, activity-based therapy, follow-up care, onsite health and wellness activities, and referrals to support groups.

A treatment program is only as good as its staff. Choose a program with well-trained, licensed professional therapists and counselors who are not only certified in addiction treatment, but also highly experienced or have been in addiction recovery themselves for some time. Staff should also be empathetic to the client and able to work toward establishing trust, which is often difficult among addicts.

It is important to differentiate between effective and legitimate treatment facilities and others that may be operating dishonest or deceptive programs. Our Orange County residential treatment facility is a licensed  recovery center that meets nationally recognized standards for addiction treatment as established by an accreditation agency, such as CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) or the Joint Commission, and a state licensing board.

Orange County Residential Treatment

Asana Recovery’s residential treatment is a CARF-accredited program. This means that the center has successfully completed a rigorous audit by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, ensuring that the program meets the national standards set by the agency. In comparison, CARF standards are much more stringent than state requirements. A CARF accreditation ensures that clients are getting the best treatment possible, and families can be assured that loved ones are under the care of skilled and experienced medical professionals.
