What Happens in Residential Treatment?
We know that the choice to enter a residential treatment facility can be scary. You will be unplugging from your life for anywhere from 28 to 90 days. At Asana Recovery, we have created a treatment approach that encompasses every aspect of life. The BPS Approach addresses biological, psychological, and social recovery. By helping you work through all three of these areas, Asana Recovery’s residential treatment program can set you up for success as you transition back into your daily life.
Asana Recovery recognizes that addiction is a disease that changes your body physically and that sometimes your body needs some help to find a new baseline without drugs or alcohol. We provide Suboxone and Vivitrol to aid in narcotic addiction recovery. Suboxone is an FDA approved to treat opioid addiction by reducing the withdrawal symptoms when opioid use is stopped. Vivitrol is also an FDA approved medication that blocks the feeling that you “need” to use drugs or alcohol. Both Suboxone and Vivitrol should only be used when under the care of and closely monitored by an experienced medical professional who can monitor you for side effects and step down your dosage as you progress through treatment. Residential treatment provides the required level of medical monitoring that is needed for these recovery assisting medications.
There can be no doubt that addiction can be very damaging psychologically. The actual psychological effects of addiction can vary from individual to individual, which means that the therapeutic portion of recovery addiction is highly personalized. At Asana Recovery, we will assess each client to determine their needs and tailor your therapy program to each individual.
In residential treatment you will typically attend individual sessions with one of our therapists as well as group therapy sessions with others in the rehab program. Our licensed therapists are highly trained in addiction recovery. Some of them have even gone through addiction recovery themselves. They understand your battle and are there to walk you through every step of this journey.
Asana Recovery employs both traditional and alternative therapies to help you recover your life after addiction. Our traditional therapy options include individual therapy, which allows you to explore the causes of your addiction one on one with a trained therapist. Individual therapy cultivates a trusting relationship with a therapist that provides a solid foundation to confront past experiences and damaging behaviors. Group therapy is another traditional treatment that can be an effective part of your recovery journey. When you participate in therapy in a group setting you can forge relationships with other people who are on the same journey and work together to solve common problems. Another useful therapy that has proven results is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT works to identify and correct self-destructive behaviors that accompany addiction and replace them with positive habits that promote long term sobriety. These therapies are used in conjunction with more alternative activity-based therapies that allow you to explore a variety of ways to address and work through addictive behaviors and thoughts.
At Asana Recovery we understand that part of recovery is learning how to foster healthy relationships with family and friends. It isn’t enough to heal your body and your mind of the damage done by drugs, you have to be able to repair relationships with your family and create healthy relationships with friends who do not use drugs. In residential treatment you will learn to interact with others through both structured and unstructured activities. You will work with your fellow residents to understand the different paths to recovery as well as what life in recovery looks like. Through meals, life-skills training, addiction education and recreational activities you will forge bonds with your fellow residents that will teach you the skills you need to create healthy relationships outside of treatment.
Through the process of biological, psychological and social recovery, Asana Recovery’s residential treatment program will prepare you to embrace a life free from drugs and alcohol. When you leave Asana Recovery, you will have all the tools you need to create the life you want.
