Why Come to Lake Forest to Get Sober

Lake Forest was initially called El Toro. The city is a good representation of the natural environment. You will discover beautiful lakes, a lot of green trees and many lush green parks. The peaceful and serene area combined with a large number of quality rehab centers makes Lake Forest, California an ideal place to get sober.

Drug Rehab Lake Forest Treatment Process

In order to recover from your addiction, you may require to participate in different levels of care and therapeutic modalities. Once you make the decision to enroll for rehab, you will receive the level and type of care you need. Your care will be customized for your personal needs and strengths. Although your treatment is dependent on your specific circumstances, it will most likely include the following.

Assessment

You will most likely talk to an admissions coordinator, nurse and therapist before receiving a psychological and medical evaluation. Your input is important for the development of your treatment plan. The staff will explain the expectations and rules, make certain you do not have any drugs or paraphernalia or banned objects. Your phone may be confiscated.

Detox

Your first phase during Anaheim drug rehab is detox. You will be in a safe environment when drugs and alcohol are eliminated from your system. You may need to slowly taper off the substance or be given medication to help with your symptoms. You should start to feel better after the first three to five days. If your substance abuse issue is mild, you may be able to detox at your home.

You will visit the facility every day and talk to a therapist or physician. If you are suffering from opioid use, you may need to take buprenorphine or methadone. The majority of patients require either residential or inpatient detox for recovery. You will be monitored 24/7 and any withdrawal symptoms or complications will be handled by medical professionals.

Inpatient Therapy

After detox, you will most likely begin inpatient therapy. The intensity of your treatment will depend on your specific addiction and how long you have been addicted. You will participate in weekly therapy sessions, supplemental or group therapy and educational classes. Supplemental therapy generally includes exercise, art therapy or meditation.

You will remain in residential therapy for a few weeks to a few months. You will work with your treatment team to create a plan for aftercare. As your treatment progresses, you will spend fewer hours in treatment each day.

Partial Hospitalization

This may include staying in a sober home while attending the rehab facility for therapy on a daily basis. You may or may not be sleeping at your treatment center. The main difference between partial hospitalization and residential therapy is less programming is required.

Outpatient Therapy

Once you have been released from partial hospitalization, you will begin outpatient therapy. This is also referred to as intensive outpatient therapy. You might attend on-on-one, group or multiple individual therapy sessions every week. Your living environment and support system are the determining factors as to whether you will be living at home or in a sober living home.

The majority of individuals attend self-help, 12-step or group meetings every day after completing therapy. If your treatment began with inpatient detoxification and therapy, there is a good chance you will start outpatient therapy in approximately 30 days. If outpatient detox was your first step, you will most likely begin outpatient therapy a few days later.

There is no set period of time for outpatient therapy. Once you have remained sober for several months or years, you may no longer need outpatient therapy. You may also find you need to speak with a therapist or counselor every month for an unlimited period of time to remain sober. You will determine the actions you need to take to prevent a relapse.
