OHIOANS MAY NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA MUCH LONGER

REGIONS OF THE U.S. HIT BY THE BRUNT OF THE OPIOID CRISIS

Ultimately, medical marijuana has to be one of the most perplexing drugs to hit the market since cinnamon capsules. Since the debate for this alternative medication first took root in the 1970s, people across the country have been fighting to make the little green plant legal for patients, particularly those suffering from debilitating illnesses or injuries. After all, the herb has been proven (based on existing data) to be a substantial alternative to opioids. While several states enjoy the spoils of past victories, residents of Ohio might not have to wait much longer. Let’s take a closer look at the blooming situation in the Buckeye State and see how the anticipation over medical marijuana may pay off in this Midwestern hub.

Circle January 15th

According to recent reports, patients from Ohio may not have to wait to receive their doses of the little green plant much longer. In fact, representatives from the Buckeye State’s single dispensary have hinted that medical marijuana might be available by January 15, 2019 at the earliest. (Keep in mind that Ohio’s medical pot program was supposed to be fully functioning by September 8, 2018). According to Jason Erkes (spokesman for CY + Wintersville Dispensary from Cresco Labs), his store should be up and ready by this date, but first he and his team have to get their schedule together.

Flower Power

Once the stores are operational, patients and their caregivers will only be permitted to purchase flowers and buds. Erkes explained that this decision is part of a gradual process, and the initial supply of this plant will be extremely limited. At this time, he is planning for CY+ to offer flowers produced by the Cresco Labs growing facility (Yellow Springs) and Buckeye Relief LLC (Eastlake).

By Ohio State law, patients will not be allowed to smoke the flowers or buds but will be permitted to vape the flower extracts. As more products are added to the lineup, patients will also be allowed to use topicals and patches and consume edibles.
