What is your favorite part about the Christmas season? Do you enjoy trimming the tree or setting up the sparkling holiday lights? Maybe you prefer getting that special gift for your loved one or visiting some beautiful locations to share the love with your city or town. No matter what you prefer to do during the most wonderful time of the year, we can all agree that we let our sweet teeth (so to speak) run wild. From plum pudding to gingerbread cookies (and the holiday favorite eggnog), we like to overindulge on confections during Christmas, and a universal component of holiday cheer is chocolate. Who doesn’t love to indulge? However, for a large portion of people who celebrate Christmas around the world, sometimes chocolate needs to have a bit more of a kick. Let’s take a closer look at “weed chocolate” and see why you should be cautious about it (especially where your children are concerned).
Intoxicating Chocolate…Literally
Simply put, weed chocolate is a type of marijuana edible that looks like a regular chocolate bar or candy piece, with the major exception that it has been infused with pot. Aside from logos embedded in the bar, this confection looks like a normal chocolate bar. each portioned bite has a specific dose of THC (and sometimes CBD), this dose is typically controllable and not overwhelming. On the market, some chocolate bars have 3 to 5 mg of THC/CBD per serving, while others have a staggering 10 to 15 mg of these cannabinoids. Obviously, this is not the type of holiday candy you want to find in your child’s stocking.
How High Can You Get?
As with any other edible on the market, weed chocolate bars can induce the same kind of high, although the initial effects do not set in until a time period of 30 minutes to 2 hours after consumption. Ultimately, people eat this sweet treat, weed chocolate’s high will last for a whopping 4 to 10 hours. Keep in mind that, unlike cookies or cakes, this sweet candy is portioned, so you can keep track of how much is ingested. While certainly beneficial for patients, however, it is best to be wary of recreational use, in case an accident should occur during the Christmas season (unfortunately).
