Bath Salts were commonly sold in many forms and for many uses.  This, however, is not the same type of substance more commonly used to put in your bath to make your skin feel better.  These bath salts are actually derived from the leaves of the Khat plant that is very popular in the Middle East.  Khat is usually either chewed to secret the juices in the leaves or is drunk as a tea.  The effects of Khat is that you can feel euphoric and very reckless because you feel you can accomplish anything.  Bath Salts used to be sold legally even though when they were ingested they could cause hallucinations. However, they were sold in a way that was marketed that they were not supposed to be used for human consumption.  This is how the companies that produced and sold the product skirted the law. So, even though you can use bath salts for many legal reasons (plant food, jewelry cleaning or even cleaning your phone) are baths salts really dangerous?

Although it is now difficult to buy bath salts in the United States, many of these products can be purchased online at the touch of a button.  This further creates danger in the substance because when you purchase it online, from an overseas manufacturer, you can never be sure what actually the stuff is made up of.

When the substance is either eaten, snorted or even injected, users can feel a sense of euphoria similar to cocaine.  Actually, studies have shown that bath salts are ten times more potent than cocaine. The users of bath salts can also experience extreme hallucinations and become severely paranoid as the hallucinations continue to increase in potency.

This is not the kind of drug that you should take just to see what experiences you have or because your friends are doing it, too.  Due to the potency of bath salts, even one dose can cause seizures and long-lasting psychological and physiological symptoms and conditions.

Another problem with bath salts is the unknown substances that they can contain, especially when they are purchases overseas in an unregulated industry with unregulated factories and conditions.  Many times, bath salts are mixed with other substances and drugs in order to make them even more dangerous. The result of taking this type of “super-powered” bath salt will be that you might become drawn to take other, even more powerful and more addictive drugs.  This is what is known as a gateway drug– a less-potent and less-addictive drug that will lead to more powerful drugs that are horribly addictive. Because of all of this, bath salts are dangerous to consume in any form or manner.

Being addicted to any type of drug or substance is a horrible thing.  Many times you feel powerless and you are steeped in a sense of hopelessness.  But that does not have to be the case.
