Recently, Deen Ween, the guitarist for the alternative rock band Ween, has announced that he is planning to open (of all places) a Denver-based live entertainment venue that is 100% friendly to cannabis consumers. According to sources, this lounge could serve as the Colorado city’s second social space that allows for public pot consumption. At a meeting in Denver on Monday, November 19, 2018, Ween announced his plans to call this venue “Deen Ween’s Honeypot Lounge,” which will feature a massive space for marijuana consumption and another for live entertainment, and is preparing to make it available for comedy events, concerts, and film screenings (like any other theater, minus the pot). Likewise, Ween plans to instigate wellness and education programs at the Honeypot, too. Let’s take a closer look at his plans and find out some more.
Honeypot Lounge
Based on sources, Deen Ween is planning to name this entertainment venue “Deen Ween’s Honeypot Lounge,” but his specialty spot will still adhere to Denver laws that allow for social consumption spaces. Still, Ween and his team cannot serve alcohol, allow consumers to smoke marijuana, or allow visitors to bring their private stashes of the drug (along with other rules established by the city). However, before the lounge can be constructed, Ween needs to fill out an application for his venue to be categorized as a “social consumption site.” According to the guitarist’s representatives, he is going to begin this process over the next couple of weeks.
Social Consumption in Denver, Colorado
In 2016, the City of Denver hit a historical landmark when voters approved a piece of legislation that legalized social consumption spaces. Ultimately, since that time, only one shop opened. Now, though, Ween will officially kickstart the second one in the city. Besides the Denver Coffee shop and the Honeypot Lounge, a third party is planning to register and be ready to open at some point in 2019. So what could possibly top a coffee shop and an entertainment venue? How about a 420 video game arcade?
