Within the great marijuana debate, several notable celebrities have emerged from the smoke (so to speak) to defend the little green plant. From Snoop Dogg to Kristen Bell, the list goes on and on, but one particularly notable woman has been receiving media attention for her support of the drug in the past couple of days. Recently, pop star Siya has professed her support for marijuana legalization and has even entered the market by partnering with Shine (by putting her name on milk-flavored blunt wraps) and Pearl Pharma (to promote an OG hybrid strain called Astair). So why has one of the queens of hip-hop suddenly taken such a major interest in the drug and why are her opinions creating a media firestorm in the cannabis community? Let’s take a closer look at Siya’s relationship with marijuana.

Position on Transparency

Throughout her career, Siya has adopted a persona of transparency and honesty. Ultimately, her goal is not just to make music but also to spread her uplifting messages to the world. Interestingly, the hip-hop artist has taken a very interesting perspective on drug abuse, addressing the fact that too many young people are dying from overdoses. In fact, Siya has also pointed out the importance of diagnosing comorbidity, how young people suffering from mental problems can easily fall victim to deadly drugs. As an example, Siya pointed out the recent tabloid media storm about Kanye West (who claimed to stop taking his medication).

Stance on Marijuana

Unlike some other notable rap artists, Siya does not indulge in psychoactive marijuana but, instead, consumes lighter CBD products. Her favorite version, in particular, is the CBD flower, which produces a calming and soothing effect. Likewise, Siya has professed that she loves a wide variety of tools ranging from pens to topicals.

Furthermore, Siya explains how her history with marijuana is long but was not always positive. As a child growing up in Brooklyn, NYC, she sold drugs on the street (marijuana being one of them) and is very happy that the little green plant is being legalized to prevent further problems.
