Outpatient treatment is another option for patients and often works as a continuation of treatment for individuals with severe addictions. After addicts complete inpatient treatment, they often transition into outpatient treatment. If an individual doesn’t have a severe or long-term addiction, or they want to get help but continue living at home, they are able to attend an outpatient treatment.
Outpatient treatments often provide exceptional flexibility for addicts so they are able to continue their normal lives or begin transitioning back into society. There are several types of outpatient treatment options available for patients, each offering a different set of benefits.
Once an individual completes drug or alcohol treatment and is ready to transition back into society, aftercare is a crucial part of ensuring they are able to maintain their sobriety. At Asana Recovery, we offer three different types of outpatient treatments to help addicts improve their chance of success.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
PHP is designed to provide a step between inpatient treatment and being placed out in the community. This program offers various types of therapies, like massage therapy and self-management programs, as well as art therapy and motion therapies seen within the inpatient setting. At this stage, patients will begin transition through academics, volunteering, and seeking employment to help them re-enter their community. Addicts are encouraged to review their past education and employment goals, evaluate their existing skills, and determine what causes are close to them. Counselors continue to guide patients into following paths that are most beneficial to their recovery.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Intensive Outpatient Program typically follows once a patient develops a sound foundation of skills and some stability in sobriety. Patients in IOP are able to continue treatment and therapy on a true outpatient basis. These programs are designed to continue reinforcing life and coping skills that clients have learned so they can put them into practice. Through this form of outpatient therapy, patients are encouraged to become self-advocates and begin reentering into their community. At this stage, addicts employ their sober living skills and continue to receive ongoing support to reinforce their choices.
Outpatient Program (OP)
The final stage of outpatient treatment is the true outpatient program. This level is employed once addicts have a firm grasp on life outside of treatment. These individuals are working, going to school, or spend time volunteering at different events or with charities throughout the community.
This stage provides an increased level of flexibility but has patients continue to attend programming and meet with therapists and/or case managers regularly. This works to reinforce their sobriety as they continue to move forward. At this stage, addicts are generally continued to be strong enough to maintain their sobriety solely through the use of 12-step meetings and other community-based programs.
Our outpatient treatment at Asana Recovery focuses on helping addicts truly return to society with a positive outlook. If you personally, or someone you know, would benefit from an outpatient treatment program, call us today at (949) 416-3341 to get started.
