WHY TED NUGENT DOES NOT APPROVE OF MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION IN MICHIGAN
- November 24, 2018
Needless to say, in the wake of the massive marijuana debate that’s been plowing through our country, many celebrities have come forward to show their support for the little green plant. From Snoop Dogg to Willie Nelson and from Kristen Bell to Eugene Monroe, many men and women from both sides of the playing field have praised the fragrant, mind-altering herb. Still, not everyone supports the pro-cannabis movement. Just ask rock singer Ted Nugent. A strict conservative, the legendary musician has been vocal about his sobriety and his views on marijuana, which have not changed over the course of his career (at all). Hailing from Redford, Michigan, Nugent spoke about the legalization of marijuana in his state during an interview on WKAR’s Off the Record two months ago. Let’s just say he wasn’t thrilled about the prospect. So why does Ted Nugent disapprove of pot legalization in his home state? Let’s take a closer look and find out.
No Way, José
During the broadcast in September, Nugent reinforced his views on the little green plant by claiming that marijuana smoking is not a victimless offense. Based on his experience, the singer explained that he was not considered “cool” or “in” because he didn’t consume weed, but, to this day, Nugent is firmly proud of is abstinence. Likewise, he added that a person cannot make a rational decision while under the influence of marijuana.
While discussing his career, Nugent remarked how Jimi Hendrix and Keith Moon (drummer for the Who) both offered him dope, and he instantly turned them down. After a while, he added, he watched some of the most brilliant artists in the world crumble into nothingness all because they couldn’t say “no” to dope smoking.
Furthermore, Nugent described recreational pot smoking as irrational and undisciplined behavior and blamed the smokers (not the plant) for marijuana’s bad reputation in our country. However, despite his negative views towards casual smoking, Nugent is all in favor of legalizing medical marijuana. In fact, in the interview with Joe Rogan, the rock singer said he is on good terms with President Donald Trump and is providing support for his medical cannabis policy.
